To understand the economy of Pakistan, you need to know the basics of the economy and sectors contributing to the economy. Three sector models included Primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors of any country. To better understand we called these sectors the Industrial, Agriculture, and Services sectors.

Agricultural Sector

The agriculture sector included growing crops, raising animals, harvesting fish, and other natural habitats. This sector considers the Pakistani economy’s backbone. It provides not only food to the population but raw material to leather, textile, oil, and sugar industry as well. Presently developed countries once heavenly dependent on their agriculture. They gradually transform their industry from agriculture to industry-based.

Pakistan is an agricultural country and considers the largest sector of the economy. It has great potential for a variety of crops. Two major crops season is Kharif and Rabi. Kharif season started in April and lasted till June. Major crops of this season included Moong, Mash, Rice, Sugarcane, and Bajra. Rabi season started from October to December. It included Tobacco, Barley, Lentil wheat, and Gram.

Industrial Sector: Another Booster to the Economy of Pakistan

This sector includes all the manufacturing industries that make finished goods or products used further by other industries. This sector mostly depends upon the primary sector that either provides a product or raw material for final product production. Major industries of Pakistan are as under:

  • Textile Industry
  • Cement Industry
  • Chemical industry
  • Sugar industry
  • Fertilizer Industry
  • Sports Industry
  • Defense Industry
  • Oil and Gas industry
  • Surgical industry

Apart from the above, the hotel industry also plays a vital role in contributing economy of Pakistan. Famous hotels like Bella Hotel, Marriot, etc. all play a major contribution in generating revenue and building a good image around the world. Developed countries focus on their industry sector more than the agriculture sector. Countries with more industries have more opportunities for job employment.

Services Sector

This sector is better defined as it does not provide any tangible product but deliver services. This sector included warehouse, transportation, Software house, Professional services, and health care services. At present time, the Services sector consider healthier compared to agriculture and industrial. It is a very important sector because it is the backbone of both the above sectors.
